Nothing is an interactive installation that explores the interplay between silence and noise, emergence and dissolution.
Presented on a CRT television, it invites players to draw, erase, move, and leave traces in a minimal, screen-based environment.
Inspired by Zen gardens, the experience balances between active control and passive observation. Both, the act of drawing and shaping the digital landscape, as well as the quiet viewing of flickering patterns should feel meditative and let the players lose themselves in this transient moment. There are no instructions and no objectives. The only sound that is used is the noise of the CRT, which adapts to the scenery changes on the screen. Using simple tools like brush strokes, erasers, and stamps, players can layer and rearrange a digital terrain. However these marks are fleeting. They overlap and give way to others.
Nothing is permanent. Everything is in motion.
It’s a space for open-ended interaction, a space for doing nothing, while noticing how alive nothingness can feel.
