Concept
The liveliness and collective use of public areas in urban environments are core elements of societal cohabitation. To enhance the quality of residence in public spaces, people who live and work in a certain area need to be able to participate in development processes and express their requirements, wishes and concerns.
To support resident participation in the shaping of common areas, an augmented reality application for iOS devices was designed and implemented. The GraetzelGestalten app enables users to design public spaces by inserting 3D objects into their surrounding environment and to share the resulting ideas with others. Moreover the users are encouraged share their creations on the corresponding instagram page to open up an exchange of ideas and inspire each other.
